Thirsty? Come and drink - January 30, 2021

“Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food.
Isaiah 55:1‭-‬2 NLT

God, before we do anything else today, I want us all to take this moment and give You the thanks You rightly deserve. I want everyone to draw near to You and receive the strength and comfort each of us needs. Open our ears, our minds, and our hearts to hear You when You speak to us. Please give us Your rest. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Your workmanship is marvelous - January 29, 2021

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
Psalms 139:13‭-‬14 NLT

Father, we are so thankful that before we were even born, you had a plan for our lives. Even in the smallest details, even in the details that we do not see, You are at work in our lives. It is so amazing that we get to have You going through life with us, thank you. Please show us how You are shaping our lives so Your glory is made known. Help us to be the church. Guide us as we pray for, care for, and share Your kingdom with other. God, we want to walk the talk. Your church exists beyond the walls of the church building and we need to remember that so that we can be active participants in Your Kingdom. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen!

God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Matthew 5:7 NLT

Heavenly Father, You know us, and You know that showing mercy and compassion to everyone around us is not always easy. When we are tempted to let other people's shortcomings influence our reactions, remind us of Your great love for them. Remind us that You died for them—just like You died for us. Let Your mercy mark our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT

Heavenly Father, please help us to fix our eyes and hearts on You. As we prioritize our lives around You, reveal more of Your character to us. Remind us of Your plans and purposes and keep us focused on You. You have given us the gift of life. It is my prayer that we all would want to honor You with that gift by spending our time on what truly matters. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

God, although we have no idea what the future holds, You do because nothing is impossible for You. There is nothing that we will ever face that You cannot conquer, and no battle or fight that You haven’t already won. When we feel discouraged by the events going on around us, remind us that You are in control. Help us not to forget that there is nothing that can separate us from Your love. Thank You! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:14 NLT

God, You have set us apart for Your plans and purposes, and You chose to let Your glory be seen through people like us. I admit that we don’t always take this seriously, but I want to change that. I want each of us to stop fearing what other people may think, and start living as people who are called to bring hope and light to a dark world. Give us the boldness to, in grace, mercy, and love, shine brightly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
1 John 3:18 NLT

God, thank You for showing us what true love looks like. Just as You have loved us, please help us to love others. Let our actions and our words be the same, and let them both be in love. It is in this way, Your way that the world will see Your love radiating through us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
Galatians 6:9 NLT

God, right now so many of us are tired and worn out, even to the point of wanting to give up. Help us, Lord. Give us Your strength to endure so that at the right time we can look back and see how You provided for us in this season. Bring our hearts closer to Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
