Sacrificial love

Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.  If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.- Luke 9:23‭-‬24 NLT

If we were to take up an actual Roman cross we would likely be crushed. Those things could weigh in excess of 300 pounds. Not many people could bear that much weight, especially if they had already been beaten nearly to death. Yet that is exactly what Jesus did. In addition to that He also carried our sins.

Jesus did this as an act of selfless love for us. Remember what He prayed in the garden? "Not my will." So if we are to pick up that cross daily, then we have to set aside our selfish wants, needs, and desires and follow Him.

Jesus taught us to unselfishly love and serve others, even if that means sacrificing what we may want. Over the past couple of months we have seen this time and time again as people continue to put their own needs and their own health on the line to be available for others.

Whatever it is that you do or say and do it in love Most importantly, do it for the glory that it brings to God.
